Wavelength has a new video

We have been working on putting a video clip together for some time now. With all of the weddings we do, Wavelength was in hopes of capturing bits of the band performing as well as some of our notorious dance crowds, however as luck would have it, we have not worked with many videographers during our wedding season so we've put together a short 2-minute video from our New Year's ball in Portland. In this video, Wavelength showcases a glimpse of the first four songs of the night to give potential clients a view of the band in action. We work with many out-of-state brides and grooms who are not able to view the band in Maine so we hope this helps you get a better feel for the band in this short clip. Some of these songs were recorded after the balloon drop at the stroke of midnight where hundreds of balloons fell to the dance floor among two hundred party goers. Starting with beautiful Maine weather for their Labor Day weekend outdoor wedding in Southwest Harbor and ending with a fantastic dance party, it was truly a memorable day. Wedding at Point Lookout

It was Wavelength's first time at Point Lookout this summer. What a gorgeous location for a wedding! We were at Popham Beach Saturday August 21st and then made our way to Northport on Sunday the 22nd to celebrate the wedding of Abigail and Ezra. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to play at Point Lookout and even more excited to hear that Allison's sister Abigail wanted Wavelength to perform for her wedding when her Mom called. We performed for Allison's wedding in Camden two years ago. It was a pleasure to work with Russell Caron Photography again too. Although the weather wasn't perfect, the ceremony was held outside as planned. Wavelength kicked off music for dinner and dancing for the reception. We learned something new from Van Morrison for their first dance and had a blast with Hava Nagilia. It was a joy to celebrate with the Endl family again. Congratulations and best wishes!

Spruce Point Inn Wedding

Miranda and Mike had a beautiful setting for their wedding in Boothbay Harbor at Spruce Point Inn September 25th. The Spruce Point Inn is such a nice location for a wedding. We enjoy working with everyone at the Inn. Wavelength performed acoustic guitar for their ceremony and cocktail hour and then entertained for dinner and dancing. Their first dance song from Journey was included in our current play list so we were excited to learn something else to add to our repetoire from Lynyrd Skynryd and the Isley Bros. for them. Miranda, Mike and family were delightful to work with. We wish them all the best.

Jennie and Eric wed at Outlook Farm

Jennie and Eric were wed at the Red Barn at Outlook Farm last month. This was our last wedding of the season. It was a brisque fall day in Southern Maine with lots of color. Jennie did all of the decorating and it looked fantastic. It was Wavelength's first time at Outlook Farm. We performed for Jennie and Eric's ceremony with acoustic guitar and then setup the band in the great room for a fun night of dancing starting off with their first dance with a song from the Zac Brown Band. What a nice couple. We enjoyed celebrating with them. Thank you for chosing Wavelength!

Dustin and Lesley were married this past August at the All Saints By The Sea Episcopal Chapel followed by a reception on their private property in Newagen. The view was breathtaking. This was the first trip to Maine for many of their guests. It was a wonderful day. Dustin shared his experience recently on the Wedding Channel in conjunction with The Knot. We wanted to share their story with future brides and grooms considering Wavelength for an upcoming wedding in Maine. Thank you Dusin and Lesley!

Working with Johnna and Wavelength was so effortless. She was in constant communication about our needs and how they could make the event better. We chose Home by Michael Buble as our song. Wavelength did an amazing job on their rendition! We were so happy at how it turned out. Their collection of songs is diverse and covers many eras of music. They were very professional and did a wonderful job with announcements to keep the party rolling smoothly. The music changed according to the crowd which really set the mood throughout the night. We couldnt have asked for a better band to celebrate the night with us. We even recommended them to the local Newagen Inn as a regular band. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate Kelly and Jacob's wedding reception with them on such a beautiful day in Kennebunkport, Maine. It was August 28th, the last weekend in August before Labor Day weekend, at On the Marsh Restaurant. What a gorgeous location. It was a wonderful day for a wonderful couple. Kim and Alex in Freeport

Congratulations to Kim and Alex! We enjoyed a fantastic wedding reception with lots of dancing at the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport. It was nice to return to the Hilton, they are wonderful to work with. We booked Alex and Kim's wedding earlier this year by phone and then had the opportunity to meet with them aboard Wavelength's music cruise in July. The cruise went by so quickly that they decided to book an extra hour of dancing for their reception in October so that they could enjoy the dancing and they did. What a great dance crowd! It was so nice to work with Kim and Alex, very nice couple. We wish them much happiness.

2010 Summer Concert Series

We haven't had much time to post lately but we wanted to start sharing some of our highlights from our 2010 summer season. Thanks to all our clients, friends and family for joining Wavelength at our summer concert series events in June, July and August. Thanks to the organizations and committees for hiring Wavelength as a new or returning performer this year. We are thankful for the opportunity. Unfortunately bad weather interupted our Westbrook Park concert but mostly perfect weather was seen all summer long. We had a great turnout for the Casco Bay Lines annual music cruise. We couldn't have asked for a better time. We enjoyed lots of sun in Freeport, Old Orchard Beach and in Scarborough at the Higgins Beach concert. What a fantastic day for a wedding in Southwest Harbor Labor Day weekend here in Maine. From a duo at the Claremont Hotel for the ceremony to a rocking dance party at The Causeway Club, the day was perfect. Congratulations to Rachel and Matt! We are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with Rachel and Matt over the past year to coordinate the various entertainment pieces that they were looking for to cover a 12-hour wedding day. The longest one for Wavelength yet! We knew that they were planning a memorable wedding and we were honored to be a part of it. Thank you to Diane York Weddings and Events for the recommendation. A note from Rachel and Matt: Thanks for the note and all of your awesome help for our wedding. I just hung up with a friend of mine who had some last minute surgery and couldn’t make our wedding. Casco Bay Lines Music Cruise 2010

It was a great night on Casco Bay Lines for our annual music cruise this year. Thanks to all of our past and current clients, friends and family for joining us for an incredible night of dancing and singing to a fun mix of music. Three hours doesn't feel long enough once you're out there. New for 2010 was a blast from the past with Paradise by the Dashboard Light. How fun was that! Many thanks to Activity Maine for documenting the night and producing this video and to Casco Bay Lines for giving us the opportunity to return year after year on the music cruise. Lesley and Dustin's wedding

What a wonderful couple to celebrate with! Lesley and Dustin brought friends and family to their family's summer home in Newagen to share in their wedding celebration August 15th on the beautiful coast of Maine. What a perfect day it turned out to be for them. The last dance ended just in time for the bonvoyage wave. After months of planning from Colorado and Virginia, everything came together perfectly. We just wanted to extend our most sincere appreciation to Wavelength who played at our June 13th, 2010 wedding. From day 1, Johnna, Wavelength's manager was on point with our vision for the wedding music and never lost touch. she was outstanding with details throughout the wedding preparation, which we really appreciated because there are just too many things to keep track of. Our experience with the band was nothing but the best. They were all super friendly and really flexible. They outdid themselves by learning our first dance, the mother-son, and father-daughter songs! A destination wedding on June 13, 2010 with Sandra and Kevin at the beautiful Sebasco Harbor Resort was unforgettable. The happy couple joined by family and friends from Massachusettes and Texas enjoyed a great setting at Sebasco Harbor with an outdoor ceremony and cocktails followed by dinner and dancing with all music provided by Wavelength. Sandra told us that their families liked to dance and she was right! From Santana, Taylor Swift, Rod Stewart to Rascal Flatts, it was a memorable day for all from the ceremony to the last dance. Peggy and John's Wedding

We were thrilled for the opportunity to celebrate Peggy and John's wedding reception with them at the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport on May 22, 2010. When Peggy first contacted Wavelength, we were not available for their date but as luck would have it, the date was changed to work out for all of us. We even had mutual friends in common to share in the celebration. The Hilton Garden Inn was wonderful to work with. OOB Concert

Wavelength was in concert last night during a fabulous summer evening in June for the OOB Hot Air Balloon Festival. It was a perfect night for a two-hour concert in Town Square at the Pier. Freeport Village Station Concert

Freeport Village Station is providing live music concerts on Saturdays this summer from 4-6pm. The date was 07-07-07. We had a fabulous time celebrating Charlie and Michelle's wedding on this day back in 2007 with them. It was so nice bumping into Charlie at a business social back in April and reconnecting with he and Michelle. Bouquet and Garter Toss

Count on Wavelength to be your master of ceremonies when hiring the band for your wedding celebration. In addition to wedding party introductions and special dances, we will walk you through the little details that you may wish to incorporate into your wedding reception. After the cake is cut and the father/daughter dance is completed, we typically move right into the dance party celebration. If the bride and groom decide to incorporate the bouquet toss or garter toss tradition into their wedding party, this is performed an hour or so into the reception. We see less than half of the weddings we do actually decide to toss the garter and maybe half toss the bouquet but we're always available to accomodate you in these wedding traditions. Here's a fun background story that we found on both.

The first bridal bouquet did not consist of flowers. Instead, wedding bouquets were originally made of strong herbs such as thyme and garlic meant to ward off evil spirits. Tossing of the garter derives from an English ritual called “flinging the stocking.” Guests would playfully invade the bridal chamber and grab the bride’s stockings, and then they took turns sitting at the foot of the bed flinging the stockings over the heads of the couple. Whoever’s stocking landed on the bride’s or the groom’s nose would be the next to wed.

New Year new songs

Wavelength had a wonderful night ringing in the new year at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland. Thanks to all who joined us. We've jumped right into 2010 with plans underway for an exciting year. We're starting off with a number of new songs to add to our repetoire this year including songs from the 80s, new motown selections and current hits all planned for the next practice. We enjoy learning new songs and are always open to suggestions. Open Arms by Journey was added for bride and groom Beth and Rich which we recorded live on New Year's Eve. What a terrific 2009! We've had the opportunity to work with many wonderful clients and entertain many this year. We are very thankful to everyone who continues to support us by attending our public events and referring the band for various functions throughout the year. We've had the pleasure to perform for weddings, corporate events, summer concert series and a music cruise here in Maine, travel to Boston, Bar Harbor, Coastal Maine, Southern Maine, as well as play close to home in the Portland area. All six members of Wavelength enjoy what we do. We are very thankful to our clients, family, fans and friends that continue to support our efforts in providing the best musical entertainment in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusettes and beyond. It is always an honor to perform at our many various functions throughout the year and most especially, to be a part of wonderful wedding celebrations that will be both fun and memorable for years to come. This past September Wavelength performed for Allison and Mike Barton's wedding on Peaks Island. Since then, Allison has been kind enough to be a reference for future brides and grooms considering Wavelength as their wedding entertainment. Dear Johnna,
A long overdue letter of thanks for Wavelength! Mike and I thoroughly enjoyed our wedding on Peaks Island this past fall and a large part of the energy in the room can be attributed to the band. A couple of people actually noted that the female singer, Kathleen, had a great stage presence. You were truly helpful in the process that can be overwhelming and sometimes scary. The suggestions you made and the extra trip to the island with me put my mind at ease and gave me total confidence that the day would go off without a hitch. (This was sometimes doubtful due to the fact the day was to be held on an island!) This speaks a lot to your professionalism and excellent management of the band business. The contractual agreement was completely clear and I always knew when deadlines were for various decisions in terms of songs, scheduling of the day, announcements, etc.
The band was a total hit the day of. I know it was a strange request having the band learn “Werewolves of London” but I know that when the band started to play it, Mike, myself and our friends kicked the dance party into high gear and I don’t remember it stopping!
I know that we had the band announce a congratulations to several anniversary couples but I did ask if you could play “It had to be you” which was my Matron of Honor’s song with her husband. I thought it would be a nice surprise that was meaningful to them since their anniversary was actually the day of our wedding! The band played it and they were so thrilled. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the band actually learned this song too!? This illustrates the true talent of the band members and the commitment to making an event truly special to all involved.
I also wanted to say thank you to you and the band for being especially patient when it came to Mike and me selecting our first dance song. We waited until the last minute for a decision that we thought would come easily and we put the band in a difficult situation having to play a song that they had not practiced in a while. Even though we called you two days before our wedding, the song sounded great and we are so happy with our last minute choice! Please feel free to use us as a reference anytime. Allison and Mike's wedding

What a great day September 12, 2009 was at the TEIA Club on Peaks Island. Wavelength was honored to celebrate Allison and Mike's marriage with them, their family and friends. We provided music for their ceremony on the lawn with acoustic guitar, social hour on the porch with guitar and keyboards followed by a wonderful reception inside the club. Allison and Mike had an incredibly fun dance crowd. We first met Allison and Mike last November at Thatcher's during Wavelength's public appearance and taping for Premier Bride tv. Their request that night, please learn Werewolves of London for our wedding. We knew then that this was going to be fun. During the spring, Allison and Johnna traveled to Peaks Island along with bride-to-be Meg, Pete and her family to check out the club. The location and the ambiance was perfect for both September brides getting married a week apart, both at the Club and with Wavelength as their wedding day entertainment. Thank you so much for allowing us to celebrate with you.

December in Boston

A great event for Wavelength last week in Boston. We had the pleasure to perform for Genzyme's prestigous awards banquet at the Fairmont, Copley Plaza. The band played at least three encores at the end of the evening. We had a terrific dancing crowd that really enjoyed our disco selections as well as many others. The hotel staff was amazing. We look forward to celebrating many more great occasions with Genzyme in Boston.

Michelle and Jason's wedding

A fabulous October night for the band. Wavelength had the distinct pleasure of celebrating Michelle and Jason's wedding with them on October 10, 2009 at the Marriott at Sable Oaks. The ballroom looked beautiful and the bride was stunning. We had such a fun night. Michelle first got in touch with us after Wavelength played for her friend Alexa's wedding a year ago. Alexa and Tom's wedding was such a blast that we wanted to replicate that for Michelle and Jason. Michelle and her mom Karen were great to work with as we prepared for a really fun night of music and dancing with two bands. Michelle's family had hired a Greek band to come in and play alongside Wavelength which made for a terrific blend of entertainment for all to enjoy. There wasn't a break in music the entire night. Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to celebrate with you.

Peaks Island Wedding

Meg and Pete were married at an outdoor ceremony at the TEIA Club on Peaks Island September 19, 2009. Wavelength had a fabulous time celebrating with Meg and Pete along with their great family and friends. We had visited the club earlier this spring and layed out the ceremony site, cocktail hour spot on the porch and checked out the really nice space inside which included a stage and a fireplace. Meg and Alison (our bride from the week before) coordinated their decorating ideas. It was a beautiful day for a wedding on the island. Ceremony music included a trio for classical music along with a special song from a family friend accompanied by Paul on keyboards. Another special song was included during the dance set with another family friend. It's so nice to customize each wedding celebration to help make it so much more meaningful to the couple. Wavelength had a blast. The dance floor stayed packed from beginning to end. A magical day for everyone. Thanks so much to Meg and to her Mom Sally for your kind words and recommendations.

We just had the absolute best time and everyone raved about the band! I knew you guys would be fun, but it even exceed my expectations. They had the dance floor crowded from the first song till the last. And I know Max Hodes had a blast singing with you guys. It made for an incredible evening - and a ton of fun! We had a great group of people, great location, and wonderful weather, but Wavelength really put it over the top. I had so much fun on the dance floor that I didn't even realize my feet were sore till the very end of the evening - I was too busy dancing to notice! Thanks again for everything, Meg.

Paula and Doug's wedding

Great day on Sebago Lake at the time Wavelength started to setup for Paula and Doug's wedding at their home in Windham on July 18th. The overcast skies cleared up just in time for the celebration of their marriage. Paula and Doug were wed during the winter months in the tropics and wanted to celebrate with family and friends in the summer in Maine. Wavelength was delighted to be included after they had seen the band at another wedding two years ago in Naples. Paula's daughter Kasy sang three songs with the band including a new song by Keith Urban called Making Memories of Us. It's nice to be able to help make each wedding unique with special touches. A beautiful ending to a busy weekend for the band during the middle of July.

2009 Casco Bay Lines Music Cruise

Live music, fun people, dancing and no rain made for another great year on Casco Bay Lines. The cruise sold-out again with 200 people on board. Wavelength wants to thank the entire Casco Bay Lines staff for being so helpful and accomodating during set-up and tear down. It was very busy down at the pier. A Wilco concert on the pier was a very cool backdrop for the evening as we departed and returned on our cruise. Parking was a little bit more complicated than in past years due to the concert. Wavelength would also like to thank all of our friends, family, clients and fans for joining us on the cruise. It wouldn't have been the same without Kathleen's family reunion on board. It appeared that everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the band. Thank you for joining us once again. We'll see you all next year!

Kennebunkport Wedding

July 11th was an incredibly beautiful day for Linsley and Jason's wedding reception at the Webhannet Golf Club in Kennebunkport. We actually had some sun that day. Scarborough Summer Concert Tonight

Are we performing outside or inside...that's the question of the day. Wavelength is scheduled to play in Scarborough's Summer Concert Series tonight 6:30-8:15. We're hoping the weather holds out this afternoon so that the band plays outside in Memorial Park. If not, we'll be in the Scarborough High School Auditorium on stage. It's a very nice stage with comfy seats. We've been there before. Two years ago it rained on the day of our concert so we went inside. Asticou Inn with Brock and Katie

We lucked out last Saturday and enjoyed a little sun in Northeast Harbor. The sun was shining as the band approached the coast of Bar Harbor headed for the Asticou Inn in Northeast Harbor for the wedding reception of Brock and Katie on June 27th. Wavelength played out on the deck for cocktails followed by their first dance "When You Say Nothing At All". After dinner their guests joined Brock and Katie back on the deck for a really fun time dancing. Robin Farrin captured an amazing wedding day for Brock and Katie. Amanda and Dana

Amanda and Dana had a beautiful day in May to celebrate their wedding at the Nonantum in Kennebunkport. The wedding reception was fabulous. Amanda and Dana had been practicing for their choreographed first dance and it was amazing. Geneve Hoffman Photography captured the day beautifully. Amanda and Dana sent us a very nice note that we wanted to share. "Dana and I had an amazing wedding and we owe a large part of that to the band! They were wonderful! We received a nice note from Alissa and Nathan today. It reminds me of why the band and I like what we do. Hi Johnna, The band was amazing--just amazing. We had the greatest time at our reception. Welcome 2009

It's a new year and hopefully I'll start blogging more. Here's a couple of updates from Wavelength that we want to share before the winter newsletter goes out. We're working on a new website this winter so that's pretty exciting. We just added a few new recordings to our play list so check it out! Our new video is on-line too. It airs on WPME through February 15th. I'll put the schedule on our blog soon and add a link. We enjoyed filming for the Premier Bride segment and working with the WPME crew. It was a great opportunity for us, thanks to everyone involved.

A perfect Maine wedding comes together with the help of Maine's finest wedding professionals which we are honored to work with and have come to know and respect through our years of being in the wedding business. Wavelength is a proud member of Maine Wedding Connections. We were formally known as Your Event Connections until recently changing our name to better reflect what we do. Over the past two years we have been sending monthly postcards out to brides-to-be along with attending bridal shows and networking events with local venues. We are proud to announce that next month Maine Wedding Connections is starting a series of monthly seminars called Happily Ever After. You will not find any sales pitches at this seminar. It is an opportunity to speak one-on-one with local wedding vendors on all aspects of planning a wedding. If you are planning a wedding in Maine, please join us on Sunday, November 2nd.

Casey and Rick's Wedding in Ogunquit

What a great day Casey and Rick had for their fall wedding at Arrow's Restaurant in Ogunquit on October 4th. We were in a heated tent but the weather was fabulous for early October. When I met Casey in Portland in early September she had a pretty good idea of what type of music she and Rick liked and what they wanted to hear for dancing so they were pretty involved with the music selection. They liked the classics. We learned Teach Your Children Well by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young for their parent dance. We wish Casey and Rick all the best.

Bethany and Parker's Wedding at Cliffside Lodge

We had such a great day with Bethany and Parker at the Cliffside Lodge at Camp North Star in Poland Springs on Saturday, September 27th. It rained quite heavily at times but everything was inside luckily. This is the first wedding where we performed for a social pre-ceremony. Bethany and Parker had a duo which was Paul and Paul play for cocktail hour and then something different for ceremony followed by the duo for social time during photos, dinner and then dancing with Wavelength for a really good time. We had such a great time with people dancing till the very end. Bethany requested a Grateful Dead song from the band which Paul D sang. We'll add that one to our repetoire. Another first for a wedding was the groom surprising the bride with their first dance song. Parker chose a lovely song by Ben Harper titled Happy Ever After In Your Eyes. It was so nice to enjoy another beautiful wedding celebration with a great couple and their family and friends. Our last two weddings for the season are this coming weekend. We're busy getting ready for those and will post specifics later.

Alison and Michael's Wedding in Camden

Alison and Michael were married on September 20th in Camden. It was such a beautiful, warm and sunny day in Camden. Their reception was held at the Waterfall Events Center in the updated old Knox Mill. What a great location. Everything went so nice. The band had everyone dancing the entire night. Again, another wedding this year where we had the opportunity to meet such nice people. Michael and I spoke on the phone a few months back when we were planning the song selections. He had some great suggestions. They chose It's Only A Paper Moon by James Taylor for their first dance and for their last dance, The Best Is Yet To Come by Frank Sinatra. I hope they enjoyed them. Thank you Alison and Michael for allowing Wavelength to celebrate your very special day with you.

We've been busy this summer with a wedding or event almost every weekend and now I've started our new blog, I'm trying to post about Wavelength's current events at the same time I reminisce about weddings earlier this summer that I didn't get a chance to post. Rob and Andrea's Maine Wedding

Rob and Andrea had such a beautiful day at the Lucerne Inn for their Maine wedding in July. I am so happy the weather cooperated for them after such a rainy week. What a nice couple! We met in April for the first time when Andrea and Rob made a trip up from Florida to coordinate some of their wedding details with their vendors. They had wonderful plans for their perfect day and I was lucky enough to be a part of it all. Rob had emailed me last fall when they booked Wavelength to ask us to learn their first dance song When The Stars Go Blue. I had never heard of the song before. It was very special. Andrea's choice for her father/daughter dance was I Loved Her First by Heartland and Rob chose In My Life by the Beatles. They were perfect. Andrea and Rob danced all night along with family and friends. It was so much fun. We had a great time and enjoyed working with the Lucerne Inn as well. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your wonderful day. Best wishes to Andrea and Rob.

Since the wedding Andrea has sent us photos, video and referred the band to future brides. Andrea, your a peach. You've been incredible to work with. Here's what Andrea has shared about the band on Martha Stewart Weddings:

I could not say enough about Wavelength. My husband and I wanted a band that would have everyone on the dance floor all night. They interacted with all of the guests and are very very talented. I am originally from Georgia and we got married in Maine. I guess one of my guests requested Georgia by Ray Charles. The band did not know it but went out on their break looked up the music and played it the next set. Johnna, their manager, was unbelievable. Of all the vendors I spoke to she was above and beyond the best. She was almost like my wedding planner when it came to the flow of the reception with the band. She made things so easy. Beth and Rich's Peaks Island Wedding

Congratulations to Beth and Rich. We had the pleasure of working with Beth and Rich for more than a year as they planned their Peaks Island wedding at Harbor View Landing for September 6, 2008. Thank you for chosing Wavelength to celebrate with you. We really enjoyed learning two new Journey songs as a surprise to Beth from Rich. Beth and Rich were no strangers to Wavelength's dance music. They joined us for the past two summers on our music cruises out in Casco Bay. Again we ran into rain and again it didn't stop us from performing and having a great time. It looked overcast right from the start Saturday but the rain later didn't stop anyone from dancing on the porch deck. The bride and groom along with their guests and the band stayed on the dance floor until the end as Hanna brought us heavy rain. Sunday it was warm and sunny. I hope Beth and Rich had a wonderful brunch on the island the next day. I will miss not working with this great couple and have been looking forward to their special day. We'll look forward to seeing them again hopefully next July back out on Casco Bay. Again, congratulations. Stay in touch.

The band did an awesome job, they were more than we could have imagined. Everything was perfect, even though we did get a little rain towards the end. I appreciated the band even more seeing them break down the equipment in the pouring rain. Wavelength was awesome, simply put. Beth and I enjoyed working with you and would be glad to provide more recommendations in the future. We will definitely make it up to Portland for the next cruise. See you next year.
